Are you interested in learning how to craft your own beer or wine? You can learn more by visiting Pints O’ Plenty in Forest. Pints O’ Plenty has over 30 craft beer kits and 8 fruit wine kits to make your favorite drinks.

The owner, Doug John, graduated from Lynchburg College with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Chemistry and a Master’s degree in Administration. In 1990, he began brewing and he became really passionate about it. In fact, he became the National champion in the American Homebrewers Contest in the Strong Ales subcategory in the year 1999.

Doug really cares about his customers and will help you craft your first beer or wine kit at your home. Some of the different beer kits are as follows: American Amber, Belgian Triple, Coopers Australian Pale Ale, Summer Ale that has a citrus type flavor, Vienna Lager with caramel malts, Irish Stout that is a creamy ale, and many other different kinds of beers. To see all the different beer packages you can go to http://pintsoplenty.com/home/category/beer-kits.

Pints O’ Plenty has different wine kits as well. The Vinters Reserve, which comes from vineyards such as Nappa Valley, Sonoma Valley, or Columbia Valley, has different whites and reds. The whites do well from a month of aging after it has been bottled and the reds are still really good after 4-6 months of aging.

The World Wide Wine kits come from vineyards around the world. Reds do well after four months of storage and whites after being bottled for one month. Island Mist and Twisted Mist are very good if you are interested in fruit flavors. These are only some of the wine kits that Pints O’ Plenty offers.

This is what one reviewer had to say about Pints O’ Plenty, “Located in an antique mall building, you would think that there would be a limited selection, but it has everything you would find at a larger store. The owner, Doug, keeps a great selection and is very helpful. They have all the supplies, can grind for you. They also have wine making supplies. The prices are very good, less than you can find on the net, and you do not pay shipping. Well worth stopping by.” This reviewer gave it an A+ and 5 stars.

Pints O’ Plenty also has different ingredients such as different types of hops, yeasts, malts, spices, adjuncts, and flavorings/sodas for you to use you in your beer/wine kit creation. Pints O’ Plenty also has different equipment and chemicals. Do you want to learn more on your own? Pints O’ Plenty sells books with different recipes that you can try on your own. They have fun Pints O’ Plenty t-shirts as well.

Do you enjoy coffee? Well, then you’re in luck, because Pints O’ Plenty sells coffee and has many different blends as well. If you like your coffee strong, blends like the kENYA AA would definitely be for you, and for those who do not like strong coffee, they have decaf as well, and they have blends in between.

Pints O’ Plenty is located on 1165 Burnbridge Drive Forest, VA 24551 and their phone number is (434) 851-5646. They are opened everyday of the week, Monday 11am-6pm, Tuesday 11am-4pm, Wednesday Thursday, and Friday are from 11am -6pm, Saturday 11am-4pm, and Sunday 1pm-5pm. For more information you can go to http://pintsoplenty.com/home. So come out to Forest, and see it for yourself today!

New businesses in Lynchburg are growing every day, and one unique business that has just recently opened is Ned’s Beer and Wine. Ned’s Beer and Wine opened May 24th this year and the grand opening was June 26th.

The co-owners are Ashby Smith and Nate Hall. Nate Hall is also the owner of Rivermont Pizza and most of the foods are made at Rivermont Pizza.

The co-owners built up this business. They took two half walls and turned them into the counter and they used the leftover wood to build the sign that hangs behind the bar, which was done by Evan Puckett. He does the design/photography of the store as well as working the desk. They built it up themselves and have been successful.

Ashby Smith has worked for a specialty beer distributor for three years prior to opening this business, so he knows a lot about different types of beers and wines. One of his goals is for this store to be a “new way to spread some culture and new ideas to our town.” Ways that he wants to accomplish this would be to have some beer/music festivals, and by having block parties on Rivermont Avenue.

They have over 200 varieties of beers, many of which come from Virginia. This store also has unique art such as jewelry, candles, and paintings made out of beer cans. These items are actually made by artists from the surrounding Lynchburg area.

Ned’s Beer and Wine also has unique beer ice cream, along with other flavors, and might have beer-based soups in the fall. Even though Ned’s Beer and Wine has not been open for very long, they have had many block parties and tastings and can’t wait to do more in the future. One of their goals is to raise “cultural awareness about beer.”

“This is exactly what Lynchburg has been missing. They have hundreds of different micro-brews from around the United States and Imports from all over. I hear they are also going to start selling home-made ice-cream!” – a Five star reviewer

Ned’s Beer and Wine is also “the biggest selection of Micro-Brew and Import beers in Lynchburg City.” They specialize in Craft Brews, Domestics, and Imports and sell coffee, as well as locally made food from Rivermont Pizza.

Ned’s Beer and Wine is located on 2486 Rivermont Avenue Lynchburg, VA 24503 and their phone number is (434) 485-2008. Also, their hours are Sun:11am-4pm; Mon-Thurs:12pm-10pm, and Fri-Sat 12pm-12am. So come out, and see it for yourself. They have many different types of wines and beers and are very active in planning events.

Are you looking for something fun to do in Central Virginia for the summer? Do you love nature and the outdoors? Well, then come to the Piney River Campground in Nelson County.

There’s so much to do here. The temperature is usually high 80’s during the day and 60’s at night in the summer and high 40’s during the day and 10’s at night in the winter and there are high levels of precipitation. October is the rainiest and January is when there is the least amount of rain.

There are lots of things to do such as hiking, fishing, whitewater rafting, kayaking, swimming, and so much more. There are many trails around, such as Mills Creek Trail, White Rock Gap Trail, Kennedy Ridge Hiking Trail, Turkey Pen Ridge Trail, Tolley Gap Trail, and many more.

You can go whitewater rafting on the Buffalo River and on the Tye River. Kayaking and whitewater rafting on the Tye River is fun, and is easier to do in rivers like this and other rivers in Virginia then it is in most places. The South Fork on the Tye River is a lot of fun and the Upper North Fork is exciting for those who live for adventure.

Is the summer just too hot for you? You can go to Wintergreen, which is a fun ski slope. Wintergreen has many different slopes both for those who are just beginning to learn how to ski and those who are more advanced. Wintergreen has five ski lifts, and it drops to 1003 feet. There are twenty ski trails, 38% of which are expert and advanced; 42% are intermediate and 20% of which are beginner runs. Wintergreen also has 90 acres and gets 3 feet of annual snowfall.

There is also history in Piney River, VA. Saunders Brothers Orchard & Farm Museum has Indian artifacts and many farm antiques. If you love art, then you will love Tye Brook Studio. Tye Brook Studio has many beautiful paintings of nature. It’s also fun to go horseback riding at Narrow Gate Trekking for those horse lovers out there. If you love bike riding, you can ride bikes at the Blue Ridge Bike Trail.

Virginia is such a beautiful state and the mountains are just incredible. This is such a great part of Virginia and Piney River Campground is the perfect opportunity to enjoy nature and all of the fun outdoor activities. There’s hiking, fishing, swimming, and many other fun outdoor activities here to do.

For more information you can go to http://www.hikercentral.com/campgrounds/112524.html and Piney River Campground’s mailing address is Rt 778 Piney River, VA 22964. Piney River Campground is a fun place for the whole family so come and see for yourself!

Radio Station, which plays rock music from decades ago and today, such as Train, ZZ Top, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Nirvana, Aerosmith, Soul Asylum, Alice in Chains, Styx, Pink Floyd, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and much more!

Listening to constant commercials instead of music can be annoying and you’re probably sick of switching radio stations, so that you can listen to music. From 10am, 2pm, and 6pm, there is a 90 minute period of NO COMMERCIALS. The Planet Radio Station plays your favorite rock music commercial free.

Listening to the same few songs can be obnoxious, which is why The Planet Radio Station has “No Repeat Weekends.” From 5:00 on Friday to midnight on Sunday, The Planet does not repeat a single song, so there’s a great variety of what you listen to during the day.

Have a friend coming up with a birthday? Let The Planet radio station celebrate it with you by sending it online ahead of time. They will wish your friend a happy birthday over the radio. The radio station usually announces birthdays around 8:30 each morning. At the end of the week, Tina will draw from the birthdays that week and the winner will receive a fun party package, which includes one topping large pizza with an order of breadsticks brought to you from Upper Crust Pizza, 2 movie tickets to the Carmike Cinemas, a six-pack of either Pepsi or Diet Pepsi, and an ice cream cake from Cold Stone Creamery. In order to do this, you can either fill out the form online at http://www.rocktheplanet.fm/birthdayform/ or mail it to 19-C Wadsworth Street Lynchburg, VA 24501. They don’t accept phone calls, so remember either to do it online or mail it.

The Planet is also having a contest called 97 Days of Summer. You can register to win and the prizes are from Wildwood Campground. You will either win either, two nights at a 9 person cabin plus 5 passes for mini golf or a 6 person cabin plus 5 passes for mini golf. Wildwood Campground is located at 6252 Elon Rd Monroe, VA 24574.

Do you love blues music? Then, come to the 5th Annual Blue Ridge Blues and BBQ Festival on Saturday, July 17th at Elmwood Park in Downtown Roanoke. Gates open at 11:30, but the event goes from noon to 10:00 pm. The event features Matt “Guitar” Murphy with the Nouveax Honkies, Sean Chambers, Labron Labenzy & L.A. 3, and much more!

Tickets for kids ten and under are FREE and are $20 at the gate, $15 in advance for adults. To order tickets in advance you can either call the box office by calling 540-345-2550, go online and order them from www.jeffcenter.org, or you can purchase them at the Jefferson Center at 541 Luck Avenue Roanoke, VA 24016. To learn more go to www.blueridgeblues.org . So, order your tickets today!

So, enjoy your day at work, while listening to Tina and Cody, and your favorite rock station 97.9 The Planet. There are limited commercials and a great variety of different songs. You can call The Planet Studio Listener Comment Line at (866) 376-0979.

Are you looking for something to do this summer? Do you want to just relax and get away from the busyness of the city? Then, come to the Crabtree Falls in Tyro, VA, which is between Lynchburg and Charlottesville in Nelson County. Here, you can enjoy Virginia’s beautiful mountains, the hiking trails, and enjoy being in nature. There’s so much here to do.

The Cabins at Crabtree Falls are really nice and out in nature. It also has one of the biggest waterfalls on the East Coast and is over 1500 feet. The different cabins are Richard’s Retreat, Annie’s Cabin, Jack’s Place, Barb’s House, and Tony’s Place.

Richard’s Retreat is unique because it is an Appalachian cabin that had been brought from Kentucky. It has old structure, with modern additions and renovations.
